The Route
The GYRO is the Great North Air Ambulance Service Yearly Ride Out.
The GYRO is an epic route that starts from our HQ in Eaglescliffe and takes in some of the best scenery in the area.
Both the GYRO 60 and GYRO 90 follow the same route out through Croft and Middleton Tyas towards the beautiful, historic town of Richmond. Both rides head along quiet roads towards Marske, where you can decide to either continue into the Yorkshire dales towards the picturesque town of Hawes, taking on the GYRO90 or continue on the GYRO 60 towards Bedale.
The 60 route heads towards Northallerton, through Leeming Bar before heading North through the picturesque villages towards North Cowton. With only a few ‘updulations’ remaining riders will soon be able to see Darlington in the distance as they head for home and a hero’s welcome on quiet scenic roads.
