With airbases in Cumbria and the North-East, our aircraft and crew are perfectly positioned to respond when needed.
We operate two staffed airbases. One at Langwathby, near Penrith, and another at Progress House in Eaglescliffe. Operating both bases gives us the best possible coverage in an area of around 8,000 square miles.
Langwathby
Our airbase on the outskirts of Langwathby, near Penrith, provides accommodation for our team in the North-West. We have space in a hangar at the site, giving the Pride of Cumbria II aircraft a safe and secure home in Cumbria.
Flying times (approx):

- Windermere – 8 minutes
- Whitehaven – 13 minutes

Progress House
Our home in the North-East features large hangar space and modern office facilities which house the critical care team as well as the charity’s fundraising, lottery and administration teams. Our emergency response across our whole region is coordinated from our airdesk at Progress House in Eaglescliffe.
Flying times (approx):

- Northallerton – 5 minutes
- Stanhope – 11 minutes

Why Two Bases?
By operating our team from both Langwathby in Cumbria and Progress House in the North East of England, we are able to make sure that we can reach any point in the North of England, Scottish Borders and the Isle of Man as quickly as possible.
We know that people may need our help anytime, anywhere. By maintaining good coverage across the North, we are able to access any setting from city centres to hard-to-reach rural locations as soon as possible, giving the patient the best possible change of a good outcome.
