With your support, we are able to save lives and ease suffering across the region.
The helicopters
Meet the three helicopters that make up our life-saving fleet. The Pride of Cumbria II and the Guardian of the North II are on hand 365 days a year to ensure that the people of the North East, North Yorkshire, Cumbria and the Isle of Man are given the best possible care when they need it most. Discover key facts about our life-saving fleet, like:
- What kind of aircraft are they?
- How fast do they go?
- What equipment is onboard?
Rapid Response Cars
Did you know we also respond to incidents in our cars? Our Rapid Response Vehicles mean we can operate a 24/7 service across the North East and North Yorkshire, allowing us to attend incidents when we cannot use our fleet of helicopters. Find out everything about our Rapid Response Vehicles here, including:
- Why do we need the cars?
- What equipment do they carry?
- Is it the same crew as our Air Ambulance?
- What is MERIT?
Major incident response

Should the worst happen, our teams and other resources are ready to respond.
