Woman among three injured in M6 crash

The Great North Air Ambulance Service yesterday flew to Junction 39 of the M6 at Shap where a woman had been badly injured in a crash.

The 78-year-old from Warrington was one of three patients treated by the aircrew doctor and paramedic of the Pride of Cumbria helicopter, working alongside North West Ambulance Service medics.

A BASICS rapid response doctor was also part of the rescue team.

The Pride of Cumbria was dispatched from its base in Langwathby near Penrith at around 2.45pm, arriving on scene seven minutes later.

The 78-year-old woman sustained serious neck injuries and was flown to the RVI in Newcastle, with a flight time of just 22 minutes.

She arrived in a stable condition.
