Wilkinson’s stores have renewed their pledge to the Great North Air Ambulance Service after raising more than £180,000 for the charity.
The end of year total has been a compilation of efforts from staff and customers at 28 stores, stretching from Alnwick to Driffield.
The stores have independently run their own fundraising events such as in-store book sales, dress down days, children’s competitions and recycling, as well as staff teams taking part in GNAAS events such as It’s A Knockout.
Wilkinson’s presented GNAAS representative Diane Walker with the cheque at a recent event.
Barbara Tennick, assistant manager at Wilkinson in Newton Aycliffe, said: “Our staff voted for which charity they wanted to support and the air ambulance gained the most votes. All of our employees are behind the local charity and they value the great job they do.
“We would like to thank our customers for all their support over the last year and we hope they will continue to fundraise with us in the coming year.”
All 28 stores are continuing to support GNAAS as their charity of the year. Wilkinson’s four stores in Cumbria are also choosing to support the charity, raising the total number of stores to 32.
Mandy Drake, head of fundraising, said: “The amount they have raised is phenomenal and we are over the moon that the store has chosen to back us for another year. We cannot wait to see what comes from our ongoing partnership.”
