A walker was airlifted to hospital after falling 50ft in the Lake District on March 11. The 23-year-old woman suffered head injuries after the accident at Glenridding Dodd. Patterdale Mountain Rescue Team, North West Ambulance Service and police were all called out to help the casualty. A spokesman for the Great North Air Ambulance Service said: “The terrain was such that a helicopter was needed to help evacuate the patient and then she was flown to the Cumberland Infirmary in Carlisle.” Her condition was described as stable when she arrived at hospital.
