A TRAIN guard has made a donation to the Great North Air Ambulance Service (GNAAS) after his poetry became a big hit with passengers.
Graham Palmer, who works at Northern Rail, has handed over a donation of £2,200 to GNAAS.
Mr Palmer, from Skelton-in-Cleveland, has become a popular character on the carriages after speaking in poetry whilst announcing train stations, platforms and health and safety briefs.
Mr Palmer won £200 after being awarded ‘People’s Choice Pride of Northern Rail’ for his hard work and customer service skills. He was also given £2,000 for starring in an advert for the Co-operative Bank.
He donated all of the money to GNAAS in recognition of their work in the region.
Mandy Drake, head of fundraising at GNAAS, said: “A huge thank you to Graham for his kindness and generosity. The donation will go far in the charity and keep the aircraft flying across the region.”
