Six children hurt in A1 crash, one airlifted


The Great North Air Ambulance Service today airlifted a six-year-old girl after a single-vehicle crash on the A1 near Newton Aycliffe.


The vehicle was carrying six children. All were assessed by the GNAAS doctor and paramedic, working alongside North East Ambulance Service personnel.

The girl was flown to James Cook University Hospital in Middlesbrough following the incident, which happened shortly after midday today.

She had sustained multiple injuries, some of which serious, but none life-threatening.

The flight took just eight minutes and the girl arrived in a stable condition.
