A SADDLECLOTH worn by Grand National winner One For Arthur will raise more than £1,000 for the region’s air ambulance when an online auction closes on Saturday evening.
Bidding on the item stands at £1,070 with the eBay sale coming to an end shortly after 8pm on Saturday.
The saddlecloth was carried to victory by One For Arthur in April’s showpiece race at Aintree. It has been signed by the gelding’s jockey Derek Fox and trainer Lucinda Russell. It is presented alongside a race card signed by all 40 participating jockeys and a photograph of One For Arthur.
With eBay waiving its fees, the Great North Air Ambulance Service (GNAAS) will receive 100 per cent of the proceeds.
Grahame Pickering MBE, chief executive of GNAAS, said: “To raise £1,000 would be a great result, but we are hoping there might be one or two big bids waiting in the wings. If you are thinking of bidding, we’d urge you not to leave it furlong.”
The item was donated to GNAAS by jockeys’ valet Steve Charlton (pictured).
