A motorcyclist suffered potential spinal and pelvic fractures after a road traffic collision on the A167 at Ferryhill on Friday (21st). The Great North Air Ambulance Service worked alongside ambulance service personnel to treat the 53-year-old man, from Newton Aycliffe, for his serious injuries. He was flown to the major trauma centre at James Cook University Hospital in Middlesbrough, where his condition was said to be serious but stable.

He was flown to the major trauma centre at James Cook University Hospital in Middlesbrough, where his condition was said to be serious but stable. The flight from scene to hospital took just eight minutes. By road, the journey could have been upwards of 40mins.
