A man who was airlifted by the Great North Air Ambulance Service (GNAAS) has pledged his support to the charity’s regular giving scheme.
Stuart Barnfather, from Peggswood, near Morpeth, was involved in a head on-collision with a bus near Bellingham in July and is now trying to engage the public with the service’s call for regular givers.
The 30-year-old was involved in a head-on crash with a bus, after misjudging a corner, hitting the windscreen and landing on the road.
Mr Barnfather said: “All I can remember is seeing the bus right in front of me and then I must have blanked out. I woke up and there was a paramedic at my side. I can’t remember the flight either, and it was the first time I’d been in a helicopter.”
He sustained serious injuries and was airlifted to Newcastle RVI where he was in intensive care for three days.
Mr Barnfather is now fully recovered and pledges his support to the service: “The team played a massive part in my recovery and it’s why I want to support them in whichever way I can.”
Mandy Drake, head of fundraising at GNAAS said: “Regular giving is a sustainable way for the charity to make plans for the future. It allows people to donate on a monthly basis to ensure we have funds to continue saving lives.”
