A MAN impaled his eye on an 18-inch metal spike at Wark, Northumberland. The Great North Air Ambulance Service (GNAAS) was called to the scene at 3:12pm on July 27. The 28-year-old man was administered pain relief by the GNAAS team before being flown to Newcastle’s Royal Victoria Infirmary to undergo surgery.
