An injured cyclist was flown to hospital after a collision in Durham. The Great North Air Ambulance Service (GNAAS) was called to a roundabout on Leazes Road, Durham, at 2:15pm on October 10. The aircraft landed at the Racecourse. The man, believed to be 25-years-old, had collided with a car.

The Great North Air Ambulance Service (GNAAS) was called to a roundabout on Leazes Road, Durham, at 2:15pm on October 10. The aircraft landed at the Racecourse.
The man, believed to be 25-years-old, had collided with a car. He had sustained serious head injuries and was anaesthetised on scene by GNAAS’ doctor-led trauma team, working alongside their colleagues in the North East Ambulance Service.
The patient was flown to the Royal Victoria Infirmary in Newcastle. The flight took seven minutes and he was stable on arrival.
