We attended three incidents in County Durham yesterday, all within the space of two hours.
At 1.45pm, we were called to Mickleton (pictured), near Barnard Castle, where a man was suffering from serious medical problems. We worked alongside North East Ambulance Service in treating him on scene before he was flown to James Cook University Hospital in Middlesbrough. The flight took ten minutes and the man was in a serious but stable condition on arrival.
At 2.13pm, we attended Chilton, near Ferryhill, where a woman suffered significant injuries in a collision between multiple vehicles. She was treated on scene before being flown to James Cook University Hospital in Middlesbrough where she arrived in a stable condition. The flight took nine minutes.
A single vehicle collided with a tree near Witton Gilbert, near Durham. We were called to the scene at 3.47pm. A man had sustained severe injuries in the incident and the aircrew doctor and paramedic induced him into a coma on scene. He was then flown to the Royal Victoria Infirmary in Newcastle where he arrived in a critical condition after a ten minute flight.
