Incident Round-Up: May 6-7


Here are some of the incidents attended by our crews over a busy bank holiday weekend:


On Sunday at 10.40am we were called to assist the Langdale/Ambleside Mountain Rescue Team at Nab Scar, Rydal Water, where a man, believed to be in his 50s, was reported to have collapsed while out walking. The patient was assessed and treated by the GNAAS paramedic and doctor team before being flown to the bottom of the fell where he was taken to hospital by a North West Ambulance Service road crew.

On Sunday at 11.50am we were called to Lingmoor Tarn, Great Langdale, where a woman, believed to be in her 30s, was reported to have fallen approximately 20ft onto rocks. The GNAAS paramedic and doctor team assessed and treated the patient before the Langdale/Ambleside Mountain Rescue Team safely extricated the patient from the crags down to the landing site of the air ambulance. The patient was flown to Royal Preston Hospital in 15 minutes and she arrived in a stable condition.

On Sunday at 2.45pm we were called to assist the North West Ambulance Service (NWAS) in Walney Island, Barrow-in-Furness, where a man, believed to be in his 40s, had fallen from a ladder. The GNAAS doctor-led trauma team worked alongside NWAS to assess and treat the patient. He was flown to Royal Preston Hospital in 12 minutes and arrived in a stable condition.

On Monday at 9.45am we were called to Darlington where two people had been injured in a collision between a motorbike and a truck. The GNAAS paramedic and doctor team assessed and treated the patients before they were taken to hospital by a North East Ambulance Service road crew.

On Monday at 2.18pm we were called to Berwick-upon-Tweed where a man, believed to be in his 60s, had collapsed in a minibus. He was initially taken to a hospital nearby before the GNAAS paramedic and doctor team were called to assess and treat the patient and airlift him to the Royal Victoria Infirmary. He arrived in a stable condition.

On Monday at 5.44pm we were called to Haggerston Castle, near Berwick-upon-Tweed where a child had become unwell. They were assessed and treated by the GNAAS paramedic and doctor team before being flown to the Royal Victoria Infirmary. The flight took 21 minutes and they arrived in a stable condition.
