Here are some of the incidents we attended this weekend:
On Saturday at 3pm we were called to Maryport, where a man, believed to be in his 70s, had fallen and sustained serious injuries. The GNAAS paramedic and doctor team assessed and treated the patient before he was flown to the Royal Victoria Infirmary (RVI) in Newcastle. The flight took 29 minutes and he arrived in a stable condition.
At 7pm on Saturday we flew to Knock, Cumbria, where a male cyclist had fallen and needed treatment at the major trauma centre at James Cook University Hospital in Middlesbrough. He arrived in a stable condition after a 22-minute flight.
On Sunday at 1pm we attended a road traffic collision in Brampton, Carlisle. A man, believed to be in his 50s, was assessed and treated by the GNAAS doctor-led trauma team before being airlifted to the RVI in a flight that took 25 minutes.
At 4pm on Sunday we were called to assist the North West Ambulance Service (NWAS) following a road traffic collision at Tebay. A man was flown to James Cook University Hospital for further treatment.
At 5pm on Sunday we were called to an incident near Alston where a male motorcyclist had been seriously injured in a collision. He was treated on scene by the GNAAS paramedic and doctor team before being flown to the RVI in a flight that took 19 minutes.
