The Great North Air Ambulance Service (GNAAS) was called to the M6 in Cumbria after a serious road crash yesterday. The incident occurred around 12:15pm between J37 and J38 and both northbound and southbound carriageways were closed so that GNAAS and Yorkshire Air Ambulance could land. One man was pronounced dead at the scene. Another, a 51-year-old man, had suffered serious injuries to his back, chest, pelvis and legs and the GNAAS doctor-led trauma team anesthetised him before he was airlifted to James Cook University Hospital, Middlesbrough, within 17 minutes.
