Girl, 12, airlifted after fall from tree in Barnard Castle


A GIRL was airlifted to hospital after falling from a tree in Barnard Castle yesterday. The Great North Air Ambulance Service (GNAAS) was called to the Bowes Museum, in Barnard Castle, at 1.15pm, where it landed in the museum grounds. The 12-year-old girl was assessed and treated by the doctor-led aircrew for potential leg injuries before she was flown to James Cook University Hospital, in Middlesbrough, within 15 minutes.

The 12-year-old girl was assessed and treated by the doctor-led aircrew for potential leg injuries before she was flown to James Cook University Hospital, in Middlesbrough, within 15 minutes. By road, this would have taken around 45 minutes.

GNAAS is a charity which relies solely on donations.
