A former motorcycle racing champion sped to help the Great North Air Ambulance Service (GNAAS) by handing over £400.
When a journalist from national motorcycle publication BMF asked Les Trotter for an interview, the pair decided that the £400 fee would be donated instead to Les’ favourite charity, GNAAS.
The 71-year-old from Barrow-in-Furness, Cumbria, who won the Manx Grand Prix in 1976, said: “GNAAS is a great charity that has come to rescue many lives in Cumbria. They do so much amazing work in the area.”
The cheque presentation was held at the Newby Bridge Hotel in Cumbria.
Stacy Hucker, Cumbria’s public liaison officer for GNAAS, said: “It was great to meet Les and to accept the cheque he has donated to his chosen charity. He already gave funds that he raised at his anniversary with his wife, Doreen, a couple of years ago, as he is a keen supporter of the charity’s work.”
