AN elderly man was flown to hospital after falling from a garden chair and hitting his head yesterday. The Great North Air Ambulance Service (GNAAS) was called to Spennymoor, County Durham, at 5.30pm, where a 78-year-old man had fallen asleep on a garden chair and fell off, hitting his head on a patio. He suffered a serious head injury and the GNAAS doctor and paramedic crew gave the patient a blood transfusion at the scene before he was flown to James Cook University Hospital in Middlesbrough within 10 minutes where he arrived in a critical condition..
