A cyclist sustained critical injuries after a fall from her cycle at Burnopfield, County Durham on Apr 21. The woman, believed to be aged in her late thirties, had injuries to her head, chest and shoulder, although she had been wearing appropriate protective equipment when the incident occurred. She was anaesthetised on scene by GNAAS’ doctor led trauma team, before being flown to the Royal Victoria Infirmary in Newcastle.
