A CYCLIST was airlifted after a fall in Upper Teesdale on Saturday (January 16). The Great North Air Ambulance Service (GNAAS) was called to Langdon Beck at around 11am. The 45-year-old man had fell from his bike and onto a cattle grid at speed causing him to sustain severe facial injuries. The man made his way to Langdon Beck Hotel to call for help before the GNAAS doctor-led trauma team arrived to assess and treat his injuries.

The 45-year-old man had fell from his bike and onto a cattle grid at speed causing him to sustain severe facial injuries.
The man made his way to Langdon Beck Hotel to call for help before the GNAAS doctor-led trauma team arrived to assess and treat his injuries. He was then flown to Newcastle’s Royal Victoria Infirmary in 13 minutes where he arrived in a stable condition.
