We are so pleased to announce that our community fundraiser Ben Sisson has recently been promoted to specialist fundraiser.
Ben, who worked in the hospitality sector for over 30 years before joining GNAAS last year, has a natural gift for networking and connecting with the community, so we think the promotion was truly deserved. We caught up with Ben to find out more about what he’ll be getting up to in his new role:
Congratulations Ben! How does it feel to be our new specialist fundraiser?
I feel incredibly lucky and privileged to have the new role and am so excited to see how I can both strengthen existing relationships and also connect with and create new and lasting relationships with the corporate and major donors.
What areas are you covering?
I am covering a very large area across the North East from as far South as Scarborough and up North to Sunderland and across to Richmond too.
What will you be doing in your new role?
Alongside continuing to help and support the community fundraisers across the region my main focus with be to look after all the corporate and major donors.
How does your new role differ from your previous role?
In my previous role I was generally looking after the community support, volunteers and looking after events from village fayres to community talks in places like schools and community groups such as the WI and social groups in the community.
Now I will be targeting more areas such as large businesses and corporations and any potential major donor supporters but ultimately, I am still looking to engage and connect with as many people across the North of England.
What has been the highlight of your job as a community fundraiser?
It is very hard to single out one highlight in particular. From my first solo school community talk, to some of the incredibly emotional and large cheque presentations, to events with our army of amazing volunteers we are lucky to have working with us. It has been a year of ‘highlights’ where I truly have to pinch myself sometimes to think I am now part of this incredible service and one absolutely exceptional team of passionate and dedicated people, who are ALL Caring, Courageous and Committed!
