A CLAY pigeon shoot company, which is set to close, will host its final event in aid of the Great North Air Ambulance Service (GNAAS).

North East Shooting, based at Beamish Burn Road, Newcastle, will wind up business after nearly three years, and company owner, Matt Lumley, hopes to end on a high by raising vital funds for the life-saving charity.

Mr Lumley, 32, from Durham, will host the event on August 20. He said: “This shoot will be the last event for North East Shooting. It has been a fantastic two and a half years for the company but after working 7 days a week for some time, family comes first from now on. We’ve helped around 4,500 people take part in this sport. It’s been brilliant to give expert tuition throughout that time.

“It’s a fantastic way to have fun, do something different, and support our local air ambulance. No experience is needed so come and try your hand. It’s great for beginners and pros alike.”

The £25 ticket cost includes gun hire, 25 shots and clay pigeons, safety equipment, as well as one-to-one tuition. All proceeds will go to GNAAS and ticket holders will also receive a 10% discount voucher off food at The Causey Arch Inn, Beamish.
