A charity race night is being held in memory of a teenager who was tragically killed in a motorbike accident 10 years ago.
Tom Heath, 31, from New Marske has organised the event in tribute to his brother, Matthew Heath, and to raise money for the Great North Air Ambulance Service (GNAAS).
GNAAS attended the scene of Matthew’s collision between Dunsdale and Guisborough in 2008 when he was aged 18, but he sadly died.
Since then Mr Heath has organised several fundraising events such as race nights and football tournaments and has so far raised £36274.87 for GNAAS.
His latest fundraiser is a horse race night and raffle which is being held at New Marske Sports Club on July 14 from 7pm.
Mr Heath said: “I just think GNAAS is a great cause. It’s been 10 years since they landed in the field for Matty and were there on scene. In my eyes and my mind, I knew we weren’t able to do anything for him, but the crew did all they could to try and help Matty.
“The events have been a good focus point and the reason for it all is to give something back to GNAAS because they help save lives and we want to stop other families going through what we’ve been through.
“I enjoy doing these events because it brings everyone together and keeps the memory of Matty going. My aim is to get the fundraising total to £40,000 for the 10th anniversary.”
