April… you were good to us! 30 days of generosity, challenges, and a whole load of green, all thanks to our wonderful supporters.
Here’s everything you should know about April’s fundraising activities…
Just keep swimming
Hats off to seven-year-old Ollie, whose mission is to “fundraise to help save lives”.
Over the course of April, he’s been kicking his feet underwater in a bid to complete a 500m swim for our charity.
Breaststroke, butterfly stroke, and backstroke – he’s been doing the lot to keep our helicopters in the sky. Kudos to you, Ollie!
Do the locomotion
Oh, we do love a challenge! That’s why when we heard the team at the Locomotion Pub and Orchard Eagles Running Club took on a 5 to 10-mile trail run, we couldn’t wait to find out more.
Special thank you to Jim and Anita Savage-Grainge, the landlords of the pub and hotel, for orchestrating the fundraising activity, which generated a whopping £1,000 for our service – simply incredible.
Catch of the day
Say hello to Richard Philipson, a certified casting instructor; last month, he presented us with a cheque for £815.
And why? Well, he teaches people how to cast their rods when fishing for salmon and trout! He charged his time and donated all the funds he generated to us!
We love nothing more than hearing about the unique ways people raise money – a huge thanks to Richard for his selfless efforts.
Silver linings
Last year, Ullswater Pony Sports Club sadly closed down after 60 years.
However, the club still had £632.42 on the books, which they decided to donate to our cause – that money will save lives!
We feel honored that the team decided to choose us to give the funds to.
Hole in one!
£5,749.29 smackeroonies! That’s a life-changing amount of money that will put our helicopter in the sky and help those in urgent need of our team’s care.
We had the pleasure of welcoming the team at Carlisle Golf Club to our base for this cheque presentation.
It’s safe to say the team was impressed, especially when they were able to witness our team respond to a call-out!
Sponsored hoolie
What’s a hoolie? Well, essentially it involves a whole load of running around the playground! And that’s exactly what the passionate children did at Jaybees Childcare did.
Not only was it a great way to tire them out (we can only imagine it was a peaceful afternoon for the teachers!), but they also raised an incredible £1,000 for our service.
Knit happens
Jean Snaith and her bestie Sue Mason have been incredibly busy throughout April, making colorful creations which will be placed on a post box outside Eaglescliffe Community Centre, a short walk from our base.
The duo are hoping to raise funds from posters dotted around town to promote their work and our charity! So, if you see their creation, remember to donate.
Who let the dogs out?
In April, 16 beagles raised £125 for us! Bet you never thought you’d hear us saying that…
It’s all down to the team at Applegarth Sniffari, who are hosting breed fun days. We’re super excited to see the pictures from the upcoming Dachshund Day and Fun for Frenchies.
