GNAAS is desperately seeking to enlist volunteers in Northumberland.
The charity relies on volunteers to carry out a range of tasks, from collecting donations to giving presentations.
At present, other than long-standing fundraising stalwarts the Myers family, from Hexham, only one volunteer is active in the entire county.
Janet Hume, who coordinates volunteers at the charity, said: “The charity enjoys great financial support from the people of Northumberland, and we are very grateful for that. I think it’s because residents see the value of the work the helicopters do in rural areas. But we need people to help support the work of the aircraft by volunteering. Even if it is just the odd hour here or there, we can use all the help we can get.”
Anyone interested in volunteering is invited to attend an event at Slaley Hall, near Hexham, this Thursday, starting at 9.45am.
The event features a presentation by the charity, a light lunch, and a chance to meet the crew when the aircraft lands.
