An elderly biker was knocked from his scooter after a collision with a van at Hartlepool at 4:05pm on Friday (May 1). The moped rider suffered critical injuries and was given an anaesthetic by the doctor and paramedic team to stabilise him at the scene, followed by a blood transfusion on the way to hospital in the aircraft. The man was flown to James Cook University Hospital in Middlesbrough and he arrived in a critical condition.
