A moment for October’s Fundraising Heroes

Spooky season has arrived, and we’re celebrating with costumes, pumpkins, and a big shout-out to October’s fundraising heroes!

Let’s take a moment for the legends who went above and beyond last month, braving all the ghouls and ghosts Halloween threw their way.

Wheels of hope

Earlier this month, our fundraisers had the honour of accepting a £5,000 cheque at our airbase in Langwathby, kindly raised by proceeds from the Cumbria Convoy Charity.

The money was raised in September for their annual convoy event, where lorries and tractors paraded around Cumbria’s communities.

They even bagged the chance to grab a quick photo of their lorry with the Pride of Cumbria II! Who knows? Maybe our helicopter will get involved next year… thanks for the amazing work, guys!

Super Shaun

Fundraiser Deborah paid Shaun Carruthers a visit one weekend in October, where his friends and family gathered to celebrate the staggering £882.85 Shaun raised for our service.

The night was celebrated with some drinks and a boogie after a brilliant achievement… cheers to that!

Vrooming brilliant

Fundraiser Bob went to visit the Saturday Bike Meet Group at Westgate Hill who raised a generous £201, and the group aren’t stopping there… they have pledged to support throughout 2025 too.

We can’t wait to see what the next year has in store.

A helping hoof

Bob was busy last month! He also visited Berwick Young Farmers, after they raised £1,500 to keep our helicopters flying.

Despite having to look after all the crops and animals, these heroic young farmers have still managed to find time to raise an incredible amount!

They’re RAM-azing

Our fundraisers met up with Ramsey Community Hub in the Isle of Man, for a cheque presentation totalling £596.91.

The hub has already raised an incredible amount for us, and we can’t wait to see what the future holds.

Roger that

We also dropped in on Roger Parkin, who in the summer raised an impressive £1,634 for us, making it Roger’s second year of kindly raising money for us.

He’s been busy designing games to educate customers about wastewater solutions after joining Drainwise, all while supporting our service.

He ‘loves every minute of it!’… what a legend.

Here, There & Everywhere!

Fundraiser Amanda had the pleasure of heading to Kaims Country Park, after its team and members hosted a number of fundraising events earlier in the year.

So far, they’ve generated £1,546 pounds… and they’re not even finished yet; thank you for being incredible!

Not a patch on Hannah

Hannah Jackson, or should we say Red Shepherdess, you’ve done it again!

For the second year in a row, the Red Shepherdess has hosted a pumpkin patch, located right next to our base in Langwathby, with proceeds going towards our service.

Hannah said: “The support has been amazing, and it is very humbling to see so many people visiting the patch. Today has already been really busy and we’re expecting this to continue during half term.”

Rightly so! Keep up the unbelievable work, Hannah.

Control room antics

And last but very certainly not least, we’re celebrating an incredible donation of £7,057.16, raised by Emergency Services Joint Control Room in the Isle of Man.

This group of heroes sent all funds raised from their International Control Room Week celebrations, and we couldn’t be more thankful.

Their celebrations included a delicious bake sale, raffle, and more…it’s heartwarming to see support from the lovely people of the Isle of Man pour in.

Supporters like this make sure we can be there for those in need in the spooky season and beyond.
