Volunteer Co-ordinator

We are looking for an experienced Volunteer Co-ordinator to join our team!

We are looking for an organised individual to be responsible and accountable for co-ordinating all charity volunteers.

Salary

£26,500 – £29,500 (Pro-Rata)

22.5 hours per week

An Introduction to GNAAS

The Great North Air Ambulance Service (GNAAS) is a fast-paced, growing organisation which operates two helicopter air ambulances 365 days a year, across the North-East, North Yorkshire, Cumbria and the Isle of Man.

GNAAS crews respond to more than 2000 call-outs each year, using helicopters and cars to reach every corner of the region, from the Lakeland fells in the west to the urban centres on the east coast.

We are funded by public donations and need to raise over £9.3m every year to maintain this life saving service in our region.

About the role and you

This role requires an organised individual with excellent communication skills. The ideal candidate will be computer literate, with experience using Microsoft Office, as well as knowledge of, and experience using CRM databases.

This role will require you to manage a group of passioante volunteers, so leadership and engagement skills are essential for this position. You must alsdo be able to work independently, and have experience with public speaking.

Primary tasks invloved with this role include, but are not restricted to:

  • Researching and developing GNAAS volunteer policies, procedures and standards.
  • Creating roles and role descriptions based on the needs of the organisation
  • Raising internal awareness of the role and the function of volunteers.
  • Promoting volunteering through recruitment and publicity strategies, campaigns and events.
  • Interviewing and recruiting volunteers and ensuring they are appropriately matched and trained for available volunteering opportunities.
  • Providing core inductions for new volunteers
  • Monitoring, supporting and motivating volunteers.
  • To develop and maintain a regular communication plan with the Volunteer population
  • Organise volunteer engagement activity including the annual volunteer celebration event (with help from the events team) and manage nominations for volunteer awards
  • Offering advice and information to volunteers through face-to-face, telephone and email contact.
