A Saltburn man is holding a charity night in aid of the Great North Air Ambulance Service (GNAAS).
The event is the latest fundraiser to be held by Stephen Dowd, of Zetland Mews, who has dedicated his life to good causes since his retirement and successful battle with cancer.
The 71-year-old, who is a keen photographer, will be singing at the charity evening which will be held at the Spa Hotel in Saltburn on 11th May.
The night of live music will also see performances from The Persuaders, John Newell Brown and Custard Pie.
There will be a grand auction and raffle with prizes including breakfast and a round of golf for four, donated by Saltburn Golf Club and Executive Catering.
Mr Dowd said: “I want to raise as much money as I can for the charity. I have a four figure sum in mind and I hope I can smash my target. The air ambulance is a fantastic service and one we are very lucky to have.”
GNAAS does not receive government or lottery funding and it relies on the generosity of the public to raise the £4million needed to run the service every year.
Mandy Drake, deputy director at GNAAS, said: “Stephen has put a lot of effort and hard work into organising the event at Saltburn and we wish him the best of luck on the night. The money raised from his fundraising will go directly towards keeping our aircraft airborne and we want to thank him for his tireless commitment and support to us.”
Mr Dowd has already raised more than £2,500 from fundraising in his local area, which will go towards the final pot of money that he will donate to GNAAS.
