A pancake cook-off has taken place in Darlington town centre in aid of the Great North Air Ambulance Service (GNAAS).
The cook-off flipped into action near the Market Cross in Darlington on Sunday 2nd March in association with Darlington People’s Sunday Market.
Participants were asked to make a donation upon entering the contest to go towards the lifesaving charity.
Contestants were timed while making the batter and cooking the pancake, with prizes for those finishing in the fastest time possible.
Darlington Borough Council leader Bill Dixon and Mayor Charles Johnson faced each other over the hot plate. Coun Dixon was the clear winner after Coun Johnson made his pancake too thick, which made flipping difficult.
Winners received prizes that included: A scuba diving experience, haircut, restaurant meal voucher, tea hamper and a box of muffins. All of which were donated from local businesses in and around Darlington.
Darlington Sunday People’s Market operates on the first Sunday of each month in Blackwellgate and High Row, Darlington.
