The Royal Air Force Leeming in Northallerton has raised more than £1,000 for the Great North Air Ambulance Service (GNAAS).
The service is one of five charities the Air Force has chosen to support this year, voted for by RAF service personnel.
The donation raised came from fundraising activities such as a track day and family day held at the airfield, as well as donations from other local groups in the area.
All the charities came together on September 30th to collect the funds raised from the base. The RAF support both national and regional charities, including GNAAS, SSAFA, Yorkshire Air Ambulance, Barnardo’s and Cystic Fibrosis Trust.
Richard Cantellow, head of the RAF Charities Committee said: “We play a big part in the community and we wanted to support the service that we often see in action.”
Mandy Drake, head of fundraising at GNAAS said: “We appreciate the RAF choosing us as one of their charities to support. The amount raised will go towards keeping our air ambulances flying.”
