Motorcyclist airlifted after crash at Bamburgh, Northumberland

The Great North Air Ambulance was called yesterday (Monday, May 27th) to a incident close to Bamburgh Castle where a motorcyclist had been involved in a collision.

The 25-year-old, believed local, had sustained a serious lower leg injury.

An off-duty paramedic had stopped to begin treatment before road paramedics arrived.

The doctor and paramedic crew of the helicopter administered strong painkilling drugs to allow stabilisation of the injury.

The patient was then flown to the Royal Victoria Infirmary in Newcastle in 20 minutes. He arrived in a stable condition.
