The Pride of Cumbria aircaft, based at Langwathby, near Penrith, was called out six times over the weekend.
Missions flown included:
Saturday, 9.20am: A man in his twenties from Winton, near Kirkby Stephen, was airlifted in a critical condition after falling ill at home. He was anaesthetised by the on-board doctor before being flown to James Cook University Hospital in Middlesbrough. The flight took 15 minutes and the patient arrived in a stable condition.
Saturday, 12.15pm: A man from Exeter was flown from Langdale fells after becoming hypothermic while out walking. The man, in his fifties, was flown to the valley bottom where the Langdale and Ambleside Mountain Rescue Team was waiting for the patient.
Sunday, 9.55am: A 20-month-old girl was airlifted in a critical condition after an incident involving a vehicle on a campsite at Keswick. She was treated on scene, anaesthetised by the on-board doctor, and flown to the Royal Victoria Infirmary in Newcastle. The flight took 25 minutes.
Sunday, 4.05pm: Two patients were treated on scene following a car accident on the outskirts of Penrith. Their vehicle had overturned and the patients were trapped inside. Cumbria Fire and Rescue Service freed the pair, who were thankfully found not to have sustained any serious injuries after a check over by the on-board doctor and paramedic team.
