An 11-year-old boy was airlifted in a critical condition after suffering a head injury while playing at Wallsend, Tyne and Wear.
The boy was thought to be playing in a local dene when the incident happened yesterday tea time.
The Great North Air Ambulance was called to assist North East Ambulance Service, the Police and Fire and Rescue Service at about 7pm.
The aircraft had a specialist doctor on board who administered aneasthetic at scene before the boy was flown to the Royal Victoria Infirmary in Newcastle. The flight took four minutes.
