Walker airlifted after severe asthma attack


A 55-year-old woman was airlifted after suffering a severe asthma attack while walking in Cumbria.


The woman from Kettering, Northants, became ill at about 4pm yesterday, September 26th while walking in the Buttermere area.

GNAAS joined the Cockermouth Mountain Rescue Team at the scene and the two organisations worked closely to ensure the wellbeing of the woman.

She was treated by GNAAS’ onboard doctor and paramedic team, as well as a doctor and medic from the MRT, before being transferred to the helicopter and airlifted to Carlisle.

The flight took 15 minutes and she was stable upon arrival at hospital.
