Every bag of clothing you donate means we can save more lives throughout the region.
In the last year alone, donated items such as clothing, mobile phones and books, resulted in an incredible £378,200 donation to GNAAS.
We want to make it as easy as possible for you to donate unwanted items, so we have compiled a list of the most common questions we get asked and answered them for you.
If you would like to book a clothing collection, please call our team on 01325 308 139 or message directly through Facebook.
Your donation is important to us, so if we missed your bag, we are so sorry!
Our collections team are sometimes fortunate enough to collect up to 5,000 bags in one day, however, as much as we try our hardest to pick up every bag, there is sometimes one or two that escape us.
Our collections team are out in the community every day. If we miss your bag(s), you can give our Trading Company a call on 01325 308 139 or leave us a message on Facebook, and we can arrange for a driver to come back for your items at a time that suits you.
Keep bags in a visible place
Keeping bags in a visible place will help make sure our collection teams have full visibility of the donation.
Talk to us!
If you have specific instructions for our collection team, you can call us up beforehand and let us know. This can be anything from requesting a knock on the door or letting us know where your hiding spot is. We record all instructions given over the phone on the driver’s sheet to ensure we follow them. Our team are always happy to help make things easier!
Arranged collections
Don’t want to leave your clothing bags out in the street? We have been combatting the risk of theft or loss of bags by offering arranged collections. To book a collection, all you have to do is call us on 01325 308 139 and organise a date that suits you for pick up. Our collections team will then knock on your door to retrieve the bag personally.
Community collections
We have an ever-growing network of community collections dotted around the entire north of the country.
These collection points can be at schools, village halls and people’s homes. If you would like to find out where your local collection point is, call us using the number above.
It’s not just clothing that we accept! We also welcome curtains, towels, handbags, belts, shoes in pairs and bedding (apart from quilts and pillows).
Mobile phones, books and inkjet cartridges are also welcome donations, however, we ask that you please bag these separately from any clothing.
You can read more about what items we accept here.
You may from time to time receive a GNAAS recycling bag through your door. If you would like to fill it up for us the next pickup date will be on the bag.
If you haven’t received a bag but would still like to donate items, our team also offer arranged collections. To find out when we are next in your area for an arranged collection, see below.

Community pick up point
Can you spare some space? If you’re a business, community group, church, or school, with spare storage space, consider supporting GNAAS by setting up your own community collection for bags of unwanted clothing. The bag collection activity can last as long as you would prefer and a member of our friendly collection team will then come and pick up the clothing on a date that suits you.
Bring a bag to work day
Over 300,000 tonnes of used clothing goes to landfill in the UK every year. You can help make a difference for the environment and support our mission at the same time by hosting a ‘bring a bag to work’ day at your workplace. To get involved, contact us on 01325 308 139.
