Meet our Corporate Partners – Genesis Homes

From bake-offs to walks and a themed charity ball, Genesis Homes certainly put the ‘fun’ in fundraising.

Over the course of a year, the team at Genesis Homes and sister company Russell Armer Homes raised more than £12,000 for our charity.

In recognition of the homebuilder’s incredible support, they were offered the opportunity to become a Corporate Partner for GNAAS.

In order to qualify as a Corporate Partner, businesses need to raise a minimum of £5,000, and in return they receive several benefits including having first refusal of sponsorships and invites to charity events, use of our conference room and the opportunity to volunteer for our charity.

Josie Scrimgour, Project Manager at Genesis Homes, said: “GNAAS is such a vital charity, and a vital charity to absolutely everyone. Any person at any time could require the service and that really resonated with us.

“Many employees of Genesis Homes had heard various inspirational stories whereby GNAAS had helped people in need, and helped people we directly knew.

“The fact that GNAAS is totally funded also resonated with us, we recognised the need to support such a worthy service.”

Staff from Genesis Homes organised and participated in several activities including bake-offs, golf competitions, clothes collections and a sponsored 20-mile walk around Ullswater.

Eight members of the team also cycled in a relay format to and from some of the company’s completed or ongoing housing developments, covering a combined distance of 80 miles.

To finish off their fundraising they hosted a charity ball at Carlisle Racecourse, featuring performances from acrobats, circus performers, stilt walkers, singers and dancers.

In total they raised £12,827.41 during their year of fundraising for our charity.

Lesley Bird, Employee Operation and Office Manager added: “We feel very proud to have supported such an important local service, which really does require the backing of other local businesses to continue.

“The community GNAAS has established is also great. As soon as we met with them, we were welcomed openly and made to feel as part of the team which made our want to fundraise for them greater. As well as showing us the importance of fundraising for them, they helped along the way as much as they could by attending our events.”

Earlier this year, Lesley and Josie, who are both Charity Committee members visited our base in Langwathby, Penrith to celebrate the launch of our new Corporate Partner Scheme.

The event gave them the opportunity to network with other Corporate Partners and have a tour of our helicopter as well as receive a glass display plaque acknowledging their valuable contribution to our charity.
