Our critical care team’s favourite places to visit across the region

Our region is home to some of the most stunning and idyllic places in the United Kingdom…

From award-winning beaches to historic castles, and from cool city streets to national parks, the North East and Cumbria has it all.

But, if you could choose your perfect day out, where would you go and what would you do?

We chatted with some of our critical care team about their favourite places to visit across the patch.

Here’s what they had to say:

Paramedic, Jamie Walsh: “Keswick. It’s like the gateway to the Lake District and has some great places to eat and drink.”

Paramedic, Ian Grey: “I’d say Bamburgh. Beautiful coastline, the beach the castle, good pubs. Perfect.”

Paramedic, Jake Gunn: “Seaham beach, good fish and chips, great ice cream, nice dog-friendly beach, and sea glass to collect.”

Paramedic, Gordon Ingram: “Old Fawdon Hill in the Cheviots. Mum and Dad’s ashes are scattered at the top. Always nice to hike up or give them a wave if I fly over.”

Paramedic, Hollie Smith: “My favourite place is Windermere. It’s a great place to catch up with family and have something nice to eat and drink after a long walk somewhere. Or, Newcastle because it’s the best city in the UK.”

Pilot, JJ Smith: “Where do I start?

“Rockcliffe Hall Golf Course and then St James Park when it has a proper sport on (Rugby).

Also, motorbike rides out to Hartside and down to Whitby. The scenery is just breathtaking.”

Pilot, Stu Rushton: “Small ledge on the western end of Great End in Wasdale – watching the sunset there isn’t too shabby at all.”
