GNAAS inviting the public to remember loved ones this Christmastime

People throughout the region are uniting in celebration of loved ones no longer here by taking part in Great North Air Ambulance Service’s (GNAAS) Light Up The Sky campaign.

The campaign invites people from across the North to write a dedication and make a donation in memory of their loved ones and join the charity for a remembrance evening.

Laura Simmons, legacy and in memory fundraising officer at GNAAS, said: “We have a Christmas tree in the charity’s HQ featuring the names of those lovingly remembered by supporters, it’s been very moving to read the messages and those who’ve made dedications have kindly donated to the charity too.

“Our doctor and paramedic teams work across the region 365 days a year, including Christmas, so we’re very appreciative of the donations we’ve received in the lead up to the festive season. Anyone can make a dedication and we hope the campaign can bring some comfort at what can be a difficult time for some.”

There’s still time to leave your own dedication, you can call 01325 487 263, or if you’d prefer you can do it online by visiting gna.as/LightUpTheSky2022

The Light Up The Sky remembrance evening is taking place on Friday 9 December at Progress House in Eaglescliffe. The evening will include readings, music from a local choir and refreshments.

Laura said: “We hope the evening will be a space for supporters of GNAAS to unite and remember their loved ones at Christmastime. We would like this to be a space where all of those who have lost loved ones are welcome, even if this is the first time they have supported our charity.”

To attend the event at GNAAS headquarters, please call the team on 01325 487 263.

For those who are unable to attend, there will be a recording of the event, which will be sent to supporters afterwards.
