Yesterday our crews were very busy, here are some of the incidents we attended on Tuesday:
At 1pm we were called to Northumberland where a man, believed to be in his 70s, was suffering from a medical neuro problem. He was assessed and treated by the GNAAS paramedic and doctor team before being flown to the Royal Victoria Infirmary in Newcastle. The flight took 13 minutes and he arrived in a stable condition.
At 4.47pm we were called to assist the Yorkshire Ambulance Service at Captain Cook’s Monument in Great Ayton where a male paraglider, believed to be in his 50s, had crashed. The patient was assessed and treated by the GNAAS doctor-led trauma team before being flown to James Cook University Hospital in Middlesbrough. The flight took four minutes and he arrived in a stable condition.
At 5.30pm we were called to Whitehaven where a male cyclist, believed to be in his 60s, was involved in a collision with a road sign. The patient was assessed and treated by the GNAAS paramedic and doctor team before being flown to Royal Preston Hospital. The flight took 20 minutes and he arrived in a serious but stable condition.
At 6pm we were called to Darlington where a two-year-old boy had fallen. We worked alongside the North East Ambulance Service (NEAS) to assess and treat the patient and he was taken to hospital by a NEAS road crew.
