Thanks to your support we were able to respond to the following incidents this weekend:
On Saturday we were called to Pennywell, Sunderland where a young boy had been struck by a car and had sustained multiple injuries. He was treated on scene by the GNAAS paramedic and doctor team before being flown to the Royal Victoria Infirmary in Newcastle.
A Northumbria Police spokesman has since said the boy’s injuries “were not life-threatening”. Two people have been arrested on suspicion of dangerous driving and remain in custody.
On the same day at 4pm we were called to assist Wasdale Mountain Rescue Team at Scafell Pike after a woman, believed to be in her 20s, had fallen on snow and sustained a leg injury. After a careful extrication from the mountain, the patient was flown to the Cumberland Infirmary in Carlisle. The flight took 15 minutes and she arrived in a stable condition.
On Sunday at 1pm, we were requested by North East Ambulance Service to assist with a man, believed to be in his 30s, who had sustained a leg injury in a motocross incident near Consett. Our crew delivered advanced pain relief on scene before airlifting the patient to the Royal Victoria Infirmary in Newcastle. The flight took eight minutes and he arrived in a stable condition.
The same crew were then called to Styhead Tarn in the Lake District at 4pm to assist the Keswick Mountain Rescue Team with a man, believed to be in his 50s, who had fallen. He had sustained various non-life threatening injuries and was flown to the Cumberland Infirmary. The flight took just 12 minutes and the patient was stable on arrival.
