One of our pilots is inviting the public to play our £10,000 top prize raffle which celebrates GNAAS’ 20th anniversary as a charity.
The Great North Air Ambulance Service (GNAAS) which covers the North East, North Yorkshire and Cumbria celebrated 20 years of providing life-saving critical care on 13 May, and now their pilot Nigel Lynch is asking the public to help them continue to respond to those in need, by taking part in their 20th Birthday Raffle.
Nigel said: “20 years of service to the local community is some feat and one we are incredibly proud of. With over 23,500 missions, this means countless lives saved and families kept together because of your local air ambulance.
“Our survival relies entirely on the generosity of supporters, so thank you to everyone who has believed in us and got us this far.”

Some of the charity’s achievements over 20 years include introducing doctors on board their aircraft and rapid response vehicles, running successful pre-hospital training courses for clinicians from around the world, delivering blood transfusions to more than 500 patients, performing successful roadside open chest surgeries and most importantly being there for people during their darkest hour.
A future goal of the charity is to provide a 24/7 service which would mean their critical care team could respond to hundreds more patients every year, but this can only be achieved by raising the required additional funding.

Nigel added: “The last two and a half years have been tough, but they have taught us to embrace the good times and celebrate when we can, and that’s why I’m inviting the public to play our 20th Birthday Raffle, which has a fantastic £10,000 top prize.
“Last year our raffle raised vital funds and funded hundreds of life-saving missions. By purchasing a ticket you’ll be helping us to ensure that we’ll be here to celebrate in the future too.”
Raffle tickets cost only £1 each, for the chance to win £10,000, a deluxe overnight spa break or one of four £50 vouchers.
