Here are some of the incidents the Great North Air Ambulance Service attended this weekend:
On Saturday at 10.50am, we were called to Alston, Cumbria, where a male, believed to be in his 50s, had collapsed in his home. The GNAAS paramedic and doctor team assessed and treated the patient before airlifting him to Cumberland Infirmary in Carlisle. The flight took nine minutes and he arrived in a stable condition.
On Sunday at 2.10pm we were called to assist the North West Ambulance Service (NWAS) on the B6412 Culgaith Road in Langwathby, very close to our air base in the village. A male, believed to be in his 50s, was injured in a collision between a car and a motorcycle at a junction. The patient sustained shoulder, arm, wrist and hip injuries and was administered pain relief by the GNAAS paramedic and doctor team. He was taken to Cumberland Infirmary in Carlisle by the NWAS road crew.
