Incident round-up: July 1 and 2

On Saturday, at 1.15pm, we were called to Brampton, Cumbria, where a male in his 20s had been injured while taking part in a motocross event. The man had sustained serious head injuries and was placed into an induced coma on scene by the GNAAS doctor and paramedic team, supported by North West Ambulance Service (NWAS). He was then flown to the Royal Victoria Infirmary (RVI) in Newcastle. The flight took 22 minutes and the patient was in a critical condition on arrival.

At 4.22pm on Saturday, we were called to South Charlton, near Alnwick, Northumberland, where an eight-year-old boy had fallen from height onto concrete, sustaining back injuries. He was flown to the RVI, where he was stable on arrival.

On Sunday morning, at 11.28am, we were called to Appleby to assist NWAS after a man, thought to be in his forties, fell from a roof while undertaking some work. He sustained pelvic injuries and was flown to the Cumberland Infirmary in Carlisle. The flight took 14 minutes and the patient was stable on arrival.

At 6.56pm yesterday, we were called to Dentdale, near Sedbergh, where a man had fallen approximately 20ft onto concrete. He had sustained head injuries. After treatment on scene, he was flown to hospital in Lancaster, where he was stable on arrival. The flight took 18 minutes.
