Since joining the fundraising team in July Anne-Marie has made it her mission to let the world know about our cause, in particular our weekly lottery. A vital income stream for the charity, we refer to it as our life-saving lottery and this really is no exaggeration, as our lottery income covers almost a quarter of the £4.5m we need to survive each year. Its future security is incredibly important to us and so raising awareness of this relatively unknown fundraising activity is something that we are continuing to focus on. This is where Anne-Marie comes in. In recent weeks she has been travelling all over the region promoting our lottery product at events, town centre locations and community groups. Proving to be somewhat of a lottery queen, there is nothing Anne-Marie doesn’t know about the GNAAS weekly lottery.
Revamped earlier this year, the GNAAS lottery now offers players bigger prizes, more chances to win and a syndicate option so that the game can be enjoyed as a part of a team. The price of a play remains the same at just 50p a weekly play.
Anne-Marie commented: “Not a lot of people know about our lottery product, which is a terrible shame as unlike other regular giving options, there is a real chance of receiving something back. Many of our supporters like to give us one-off donations which is really incredible. However, what we are trying to promote is the fact that that although their one-off donation is fantastic and it helps us right now, regular lottery plays guarantee a more sustainable income, providing a us with greater security and a platform from which we can plan for the future. Being able to plan is incredibly important to a charity like ours, as we are solely reliant upon donations in order to continue operating. Therefore, players can feel good about their support and when they do win that’s an extra bonus. It is a wonderful feeling for them and for us.”
Anne-Marie is currently travelling around the region meeting groups of people to promote our life-saving lottery and offering people the opportunity to sign up if they feel compelled to do so.
She is currently booking in appointments to meet with community groups, businesses and societies for October and onwards. Anne-Marie is also offering groups an update on charity activities so they can see exactly where their funds are going and the impact their support is having on the lives of others in the region.
