Diver flown to hospital after suffering from the bends at Wastwater


A DIVER was airlifted to hospital after suffering from the bends when diving at Wastwater yesterday (August 21). The Great North Air Ambulance Service (GNAAS) was called to the incident in Wasdale, Cumbria, at 1.50pm. The GNAAS doctor-led trauma team assessed and treated the 25-year-old man, before transporting him to the nearest hyperbaric chamber in Wirral for further treatment.

The GNAAS doctor-led trauma team assessed and treated the 25-year-old man, before transporting him to the nearest hyperbaric chamber in Wirral for further treatment. The flight took 37 minutes, and the patient was stable on arrival.
