A WALKER was airlifted from a Lake District fell after slipping and injuring herself. The Great North Air Ambulance Service (GNAAS) was called to Haystacks at 9:40am on August 1, to the aid of a 49-year-old woman who had sustained a serious leg injury. She was assessed and treated by the doctor-led trauma team before being carried to the Pride of Cumbria aircraft with the assistance of Cockermouth Mountain Rescue Team before being flown to the Cumberland Infirmary in Carlisle.

She was assessed and treated by the doctor-led trauma team before being carried to the Pride of Cumbria aircraft with the assistance of Cockermouth Mountain Rescue Team before being flown to the Cumberland Infirmary in Carlisle. The flight took just 14 minutes and she arrived in a stable condition.
