A CYCLIST was airlifted to hospital after falling from his bike on Saturday (July 30). The Great North Air Ambulance Service (GNAAS) was called to Thirlmere reservoir at 12:16pm, to the aid of a man who had fallen from his bike at speed and split his helmet in half. The 29-year-old man was treated for potential head, neck and back injuries by the GNAAS doctor-led trauma team, before he was flown to the Royal Preston Hospital within 20 minutes.

The 29-year-old man was treated for potential head, neck and back injuries by the GNAAS doctor-led trauma team, before he was flown to the Royal Preston Hospital within 20 minutes. He arrived in a stable condition.
GNAAS worked alongside North West Ambulance Service.
